Wife of a former governor of Adamawa State, Mrs. Zainab Boni Haruna, has dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
She spoke at a meeting with ADC women, youth supporters at Zadiah Guest Inn in Damaturu, on Sunday.
Haruna blamed the President Bola Tinubu-led All Progressives Congress (APC) for the insecurity, hardship, corruption and poor leadership in the country.
“People are suffering, hunger is too much in the land,” she said.
On her joining ADC, she said “I have decided to join the coalition ADC with my political mentor Adamu Waziri which I believe has the power, strength, resources and political will to tackle the APC in the 2027 general elections,” she said.
Haruna said most of the PDP members are moving out in droves because the crisis in the party will not likely be settled.
“Let me tell you the truth. Before I decided to dump my party, PDP, I went to Adamu Waziri house who’s the former minister of police affairs, PDP Board of Trustees (BoT) to seek political advice from him and took my decision to join the alliance of ADC,” she said.
She however charged the women and youths of other political parties to prepare for the 2027 general elections.
She emphasised the need for women and youths to take active roles in the ADC, warning that the party cannot afford to lose to the PDP in the forthcoming elections.
