The party announced the decision after a consensus primary election held in Gusau, with all other aspirants stepping down for Garba.
Announcing the outcome, the chairman of the Accord Party Primary Election Committee in Zamfara, Chief Paul Ezeanya, said the exercise was conducted in line with the party’s constitution and guidelines.
“The election was held through consensus in which all aspirants stepped down for Musa Yusuf. Based on the guidelines of the party constitution, Yusuf has been declared winner of the primary election through consensus,” Ezeanya stated.
In his acceptance speech, Rt. AIG Musa Yusuf Garba thanked party stakeholders for their support and commended fellow aspirants for stepping aside to allow a unified front.
“I commend the stakeholders of the party for the unwavering support to my aspiration. I also laud the support by other aspirants who stepped down for me to contest for governorship under the Accord Party,” he said.
Garba pledged to prioritize security if elected, citing the persistent insecurity plaguing Zamfara as his main concern.
“If elected as governor of the state, I will address the lingering insecurity affecting the state,” he assured.
He described the Accord Party as the best party to salvage the state, calling on residents to support its mission to restore peace and development in Zamfara.
