Former Executive Director of Housing, Finance and Accounts at the Federal Housing Authority, Dr. Mathias Byuan, has obtained the Labour Party governorship nomination and expression of interest forms to contest the 2027 Benue governorship election.
Byuan purchased the forms at the Labour Party national secretariat in Abuja on Friday alongside other aspirants seeking elective positions, including seats in the National Assembly and Benue State House of Assembly.
Speaking after obtaining the forms, the former APC governorship aspirant said he would contest the Benue governorship election on the platform of the Labour Party, while supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for re-election in 2027.
According to him, he supports Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda and believes the President should be given another term to complete ongoing projects across the country, including those in Benue State.
Byuan also criticised the administration of Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia, alleging that the state was facing challenges including insecurity and labour disputes linked to salary issues.
He pledged to prioritise security, workers’ welfare, healthcare, education and rural infrastructure if elected governor in 2027.
A statement by his adviser, Akange Nyagba, said supporters at the Labour Party secretariat expressed support for his governorship ambition.
Byuan had earlier sought the APC governorship ticket before defecting to the Labour Party.
