Former deputy governor of Bauchi State, Senator Baba Tela, has lost two of his children, Mustapha and Ummi, who died in a tragic motor accident on Saturday along the Bauchi-Azare road while returning from Azare.

Governor Bala Mohammed, in a condolence message, said he received the heartbreaking news with profound shock and sadness, describing the incident as a painful tragedy that has cast a shadow of grief over Bauchi State.

The governor said the loss of the two young lives was not only a devastating blow to Senator Tela and his family but also a painful loss to the people of the state.

He prayed that Almighty Allah (SWT) grants the deceased eternal rest in Aljannatul Firdaus and gives their parents, family members, friends, and loved ones the strength, patience, and fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.

Governor Mohammed urged the bereaved family to take solace in the will of Allah, reminding them that every soul shall return to its Creator at the appointed time. He assured Senator Tela of the prayers and solidarity of the Bauchi state government and its people during this difficult period.

In a statement issued by his media adviser and publicity, Mukhtar Gidado, the governor also extended his sympathies to others affected by the accident and prayed for the speedy recovery of those who sustained injuries.

He further called on residents of the state to join him in praying for the peaceful repose of the souls of the deceased and for Allah to grant comfort to the bereaved family.

Governor Bala Mohammed has also expressed deep sorrow over the death of elder statesman, educationist and former Bauchi State Commissioner for Religious Affairs, Alhaji Yakubu Ibrahim Hamza, who died in Abuja after a prolonged illness.

Until his death, Hamza served as the special adviser to the Governor on higher education, where he contributed immensely to the development of the education sector in Bauchi State.

The governor described the late Hamza as a distinguished public servant whose life was marked by integrity, humility, selfless service, and an unwavering commitment to educational development.

He noted that the deceased made invaluable contributions to the growth of education in both the old Bauchi State and the present-day state, leaving behind a legacy that will continue to inspire future generations.

According to another condolence message issued by Mukhtar Gidado, Governor Mohammed recalled Hamza’s exemplary service as Commissioner for Religious Affairs and later as Special Adviser on Higher Education, where his wisdom, experience, and dedication greatly enriched government policies and programmes.

“Alhaji Yakubu Ibrahim Hamza was a committed patriot, respected educationist, mentor to many, and bridge-builder whose contributions to the educational and moral development of our society will remain indelible. His death is a painful loss not only to his immediate family but also to the Government and people of Bauchi State and the nation at large,” the governor said.

Governor Mohammed prayed that Almighty Allah forgives the shortcomings of the deceased, grants him Aljannatul Firdaus, and gives his family, friends, associates, and the people of Bauchi State the strength to bear the loss.

The Bauchi state government also extended its heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and all those touched by Hamza’s remarkable service and enduring legacy.
