The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Ondo East/Ondo West Federal Constituency in the 2027 National Assembly election, Michael Akintomide, has appealed to party members to respect the supremacy of the party and refrain from actions capable of undermining its chances in the forthcoming general election.

‎Akintomide made the appeal on in Akure while addressing supporters who turned out in large numbers to welcome him and other APC candidates returning from Abuja after the conclusion of the party’s primary election process and submission of candidates’ names.

‎He urged aggrieved members to accept the outcome of the primaries, insisting that the National Working Committee (NWC) conducted the exercise in line with the party’s constitution and that its decision should be respected by all party faithful.

‎”There is no need for agitation. For clarity’s sake, the National Working Committee has spoken and there is party supremacy. Whatever they are saying on social media that is contrary to the position of the party should be ignored. Even if there are protests, don’t join them. Believe in the process. The process has produced credible candidates,” Akintomide said.

‎The APC candidate expressed confidence that Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, as the leader of the party in Ondo State, would work with other stakeholders to unite members and strengthen the APC ahead of the 2027 general elections.

‎Thanking supporters for the warm reception, Akintomide described the turnout as a demonstration of the confidence reposed in his candidacy, adding that his ambition was to pursue quality legislation and policies that would improve the welfare of constituents rather than merely attracting projects.

‎He also dismissed reports that the APC secretariat was shut during his arrival, maintaining that the large crowd that received him reflected the true strength of the party and urging members to put the primary election behind them in the interest of victory at the polls.

‎Also speaking, former Chairman of Ondo West Local Government, Ebenezer Akinsulure, described Akintomide’s emergence as the APC candidate as a victory for the people of Ondo, saying the massive turnout at the reception underscored his popularity and the widespread acceptance of his candidacy within the party.

‎Akintomide, however, acknowledged that disagreements were inevitable after party primaries but expressed optimism that members would eventually close ranks, stressing that the collective interest of the APC must take precedence over individual ambitions.
