Mohammed, who is a former Speaker of the State House of Assembly, announced his resignation in a letter he addressed to the chairman of the PDP in Agunjin Ward in Ifelodun local government area of the state.

LEADERSHIP recalls that Mohammed, who only vacated office as the PDP State chairman about a fortnight ago after the state congress of the party, had been in the PDP since 2002.

Mohammed’s letter of resignation dated October 15, 2025, read: “This is to officially inform you that I have resigned my membership of PDP from Wednesday 15th October 2025.

“I joined PDP in 2002, precisely 22 years ago without leaving the party even for a day. But the reason for my resignation is purely personal.

“I sincerely thank the leadership of the party, the stakeholders and members for their support and cooperation, most especially when I served as the state chairman of the party.”

In a telephone interview with LEADERSHIP, Mohammed said he had paid his dues in the PDP and it was time to move on.

Also, in his reaction to the development, the publicity secretary of the PDP, Olusola Olusegun Adewara, said they were aware of Mohammed’s resignation, but quickly added, “we are not surprised about Hon. Mohammed’s resignation going by certain happenings before the recent state congress of our party.”

He said the exit of the former chairman would not affect the fortunes of the party in the state.
