A former member of staff of LEADERSHIP Group Ltd, Chief James Ume, has built a primary healthcare centre for Ndi Okereke Abam community in Arochukwu local government area of Abia State.

This is in addition to a church hall, and 30-units purpose-built house.

Ume, who is the Ike Abam (Pillar of Abam) built the houses for the underprivileged in the community.

At their inauguration, the state governor, Dr Alex Otti, thanked Ume for the projects, which he said aligned with his administration’s agenda of creating a better environment for the people.

Represented by the secretary to the state government, Prof Kenneth Kalu, said the projects were consistent with the administration’s public-private partnership initiatives to better the society.

His words “This is what the government is looking for, you know.

The community who are also largely the beneficiaries should take real possession and maintain those facilities.

“It’s their own. The era of treating what is considered government property with levity, is gone. They should take care of and protect them, and make sure they are well maintained at all times.”

Speaking also, the commissioner for Health, Prof Enoch Uche, expressed joy with the standard of the centre and lauded Ume, and the Unubiko Foundation for conceptualizing the centre.

“You’ve gifted your people, the level 2 primary health care centre. It’s well built. And it was done and equipped with the same standard, as the State Primary Health Centres,” Uche said.

He urged the affluent in the society to help people at the grassroot to get registered in the informal sector of Health Insurance to enable them access health care whenever they need attention.

‎Earlier in his speech, Ume explained that he embarked on the projects as a way of helping in advancing the lives of the people and in support of the developmental strides of the governor.

‎The founder of the foundation, therefore, used the forum to laud Otti for his developmental strides and solicited the support of the area and the state in general for him.
