Immediate-past Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Chris Ngige, on Thursday evening, made a surprise appearance at the All Progressives Congress (APC) national caucus meeting at the Aso Rock Villa in Abuja, just hours after regaining his freedom from the Kuje Custodial Centre.

Ngige had been remanded in Kuje prison over alleged corruption charges filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

He was granted an administrative bail earlier on Thursday after meeting the conditions set by the court.

The former Anambra State governor arrived at the State House Conference Centre shortly after the President had taken his seat for the meeting.

He was briefly stopped by security operatives before being cleared to join other party leaders.

Ngige is facing charges bordering on alleged abuse of office, including the granting of undue advantage to associates in the award of several contracts during his tenure as minister between 2015 and 2023.

He is also accused of corruptly receiving gifts amounting to millions of naira through organisations allegedly linked to him while in office.
