A chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo state, Dr Akinsola Jimoh, has dumped the party along with his over 600 supporters to join the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the November 16th governorship election in the state.

Akinsola, the PDP House of Assembly candidate for Okitipupa constituency 1 in the 2023 general election, joined the APC in his Igbotako Ward two at an event held at the St Pius Catholic field.

The event was attended by prominent leaders and members of the APC in the state, including the commissioner for commerce and industry, Pastor Segun Aiyerin; his counterpart in the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Amidu Takuro; House of Assembly member representing Okitipupa constituency 1, Hon. Chris Ayebusiwa; the APC chairman in Okitipupa LGA, Igbekele Akinriwa and the Acting Chairman of Ikale North LCDA, Hon Abiodun Owonola (Equity).

Other leaders at the meeting included a former member of the State House of Assembly, Hon Niyi Adebusoye, and the Special Assistant to the Governor, Idowu Edema.

The Commissioner for Chieftaincy LG Affairs, Takuro, who represented the state governor, Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, expressed delight over Jimoh’s decision to join the APC with his numerous supporters.

While expressing optimism about his ability to add more excellent value to the party in the state as a grassroots politician, the governor assured him and his supporters of all necessary recognition and support in the APC.
