In a solemn statement issued in Abuja, Monguno other Nigerians in mourning the loss of a leader he described as “a man of rare conviction, who gave his life in service to Nigeria and led with quiet strength and moral fortitude.”

According to Monguno, the death of Buhari was not just a moment of national mourning, but a time for deep reflection on the life of a man who prioritized nation-building above all else. He recalled Buhari’s courage in leading Nigeria during difficult moments in its history, both as a military Head of State and as a two-term democratically elected President.

“As a fellow Northerner and someone who had close insight into his leadership style, I can attest that President Muhammadu Buhari was a true patriot — disciplined in his ways, selfless in his actions, and deeply committed to the values that define good governance,” Monguno stated.

The Senate whip highlighted President Buhari’s achievements in the fight against corruption, restoring financial prudence in government, revitalising national infrastructure, and enhancing food security through focused agricultural policies.

He noted that under Buhari’s leadership, Nigeria recorded unprecedented strides in transportation, energy, and social investment reforms that laid the groundwork for future development.

“Baba Buhari was not a man given to political games or unnecessary flamboyance. He governed with clarity, humility, and a deep sense of responsibility to posterity,” Senator Monguno said.

He also acknowledged the late President’s devotion to security in the North-East and his strategic focus on degrading terrorism and rebuilding lives in conflict-affected areas. As a representative from Borno State, Senator Monguno said he witnessed the positive shift in federal attention and military collaboration under Buhari’s administration.

“His leadership gave hope to the people of Borno at a time we were in despair. He never abandoned us. His legacy in rebuilding the North-East is a testament to his love for our people and our future,” he added.

Senator Monguno extended his heartfelt condolences to the Buhari family, the government of Katsina State, and the entire nation. He prayed that Almighty Allah (SWT) grants the late President eternal rest in Aljannatul Firdaus.

“Baba lived for Nigeria. He lived with honour. And he died with dignity. May Allah grant him Jannah and reward his sacrifices with eternal peace,” the senator concluded.
