A former presidential aspirant of the Labour Party, Comrade Faduri Oluwadare Joseph has tasked President Bola Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) on the need for nation building.
Speaking under the auspices of Rescue the Vulnerable Initiative, Joseph, popularly called Fadojoe, during an online interactive session with the press yesterday urged the government to focus on genuine nation-building.
He lamented the difficult circumstances faced by ordinary citizens, including the inability to afford basic necessities and the minimal impact of the minimum wage.
He also raised concerns about the use of the presidential jet for private purposes and the increase in university school fees.
The former aspirant emphasised the need for a transparent approach, stating, “My fellow Nigerians, it is essential to question whether President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s ‘Renewed Hope’ government is dedicated to national development or merely an administration focused on depleting our national treasury.”
He pointed out the government’s rapid accumulation of debt in its early months and the questionable allocation of borrowed funds.
He further criticised the decision to provide substantial sums to the National Assembly and State Governors without clear accountability.
He expressed concerns about the lavish spending by government officials, such as the allocation of luxurious cars to lawmakers and extravagant expenses for a presidential yacht and the first lady’s office, all financed with borrowed funds while the nation faces economic challenges.
He highlighted the need for a change in the government’s approach to governance.
Joseph urged President Tinubu to lead by example and to prioritise the well-being of the suffering masses.
He called for a shift in the government’s focus away from lavish spending and towards genuine nation-building.
He appealed for a brighter future for Nigeria, emphasising the importance of leaving a positive legacy.
He encouraged President Tinubu to consider the impact of his leadership on the nation’s history and to act in the best interest of the Nigerian people.
