Chairman, Conference of Former Speakers of State Houses of Assembly of Nigeria, Senator Simon Bako Lalong, has assured that the body would brainstorm on current problems in Nigeria and push for constitutional amendment to better the lives of people at all levels.
Speaking in Yola yesterday at a press conference to declare the conference of former speakers open, he said the body consists of 150 members who have past and present experience to offer for the development of Nigeria.
He said the body which came into existence in 1999 and registered by the CAC also gives scorecards of any state visited.
“We are here in Yola to meet and harness on problems of this country and push for constitutional amendment and push to state forward. It is also a privileged visit to see with our eyes and give testimony to what is happening in Adamawa State.
“The decision taken at the end of the meeting would be forwarded to conference of speakers for implantation for the development of the state,” he said.
The former governor of Plateau State gave credit to the group for the implementation of financial autonomy for the legislature and judiciary in the country.
He added that the visit was not to which hunt anybody, and appreciated the body for producing their members as governor of Rivers, Plateau and Adamawa states respectively.
