A key highlight of the event is a Fundraising Gala Night, aimed at rallying alumni from around the world to support structural and infrastructural upgrades for the school.

In a joint statement, the President of the National Old Students Association, Dr. Wale Okediran, and the chairman of the 80th Anniversary Central Planning Committee, Dr. Olusegun K. Ahmadu, emphasised that the celebration is not only a reunion platform for former students but also an opportunity to drive impactful projects that will enhance learning conditions for current students.

Beyond the fundraising gala, the 80th anniversary celebration will feature an X (Twitter) Space conversation, designed to reconnect alumni across different generations. Additionally, a comprehensive documentary chronicling the school’s evolution and achievements will be promoted digitally.

“For 80 remarkable years, Olivet Baptist High School, Oyo has stood as a beacon of learning, growth, and community transformation, shaping generations of thinkers, leaders, and dreamers,” the statement read.

“As we celebrate this historic milestone, there is a great need not just to honour its legacy but, more importantly, to address its pressing needs through an impactful spirit of giving back.”

According to the NOSA leadership, the association has spearheaded several developmental projects over the years, including Upgrading of learning facilities and sports complex, construction of a school hall and donation of computers, learning aids. And construction of the school gate

The 80th Anniversary Fundraising Gala aims to take these efforts even further by restoring and enhancing the school’s glory.

The 80th Anniversary Central Planning Committee urged all alumni to register for the X Space Conversation by filling out a Google Form that will be circulated across digital platforms.

“It is a unique opportunity for all old students, home and abroad, to come together, relive old memories, and chart an impactful future for our great alma mater,” the statement added.

Founded on January 29, 1945, as Oyo Baptist Boys’ High School, Olivet Baptist High School has a rich history of academic and sporting excellence. Originally established by the American International Mission Board, the school is affiliated with the Nigerian Baptist Convention.

It currently sits on the iconic Olivet Heights, while its original site now houses the Baptist College of Theology, Oyo.

At inception, Olivet was one of the few schools outside Lagos equipped with hostel facilities, staff quarters, and state-of-the-art laboratories. It boasted specialised workshops for metalwork, woodwork, technical drawing, and agriculture, alongside modern sports facilities for soccer, basketball, hockey, lawn tennis, cricket, badminton, and athletics.
