Founders, developers and technology leaders are set to converge in Lagos for the AI in Action Now 2026 conference, an event aimed at accelerating practical, homegrown artificial intelligence solutions across Africa.
Convener and chief executive officer of CarbonAI Ltd UK, Debola Ibiyode, said the initiative is designed to move conversations on artificial intelligence beyond industry hype to real-world impact.
Speaking in a statement issued in Lagos, Ibiyode said the conference, which would focus on productivity, innovation and sustainability under the theme “Driving Productivity, Innovation, and Sustainability— Building the Future in AI Together,” is scheduled to hold on January 22, 2026, in Lagos.
According to her, the platform is tailored for builders and decision-makers seeking to deploy AI solutions that address Africa’s economic and social challenges.
“AI in Action Now 2026 is designed as a high-impact platform where deep-tech innovation meets real-world application. The conference will explore how Large Language Models, Agentic AI frameworks and Generative AI can be harnessed to power Africa’s transformation,” Ibiyode said.
She stressed that the era of endless discussions about artificial intelligence has passed, noting that the conference is aimed at stakeholders ready to build, apply, and lead.
“We aren’t chasing hype or funding, we are chasing real impact. Our mission is to empower budding founders to turn ideas into deployable solutions while championing responsible AI adoption that creates measurable social and economic change across the continent,” she added.
Ibiyode explained that the event will feature keynote sessions and panel discussions offering in-depth insights into Generative AI, Agentic frameworks and their role in global sustainability. Participants will also engage in hands-on workshops focused on building, deploying and scaling AI tools.
She noted that a startup and product showcase would highlight African-built AI solutions, while structured mentorship and networking sessions would connect early-stage founders with experienced practitioners and industry leaders.
The conference is expected to attract software and AI engineers, data scientists, business leaders, educators, policymakers and students, with a focus on promoting inclusive, ethical and sustainable AI adoption.
Meanwhile, organisers disclosed that AI in Action Now 2026 offers organisations opportunities to gain visibility among decision-makers and emerging AI talent on the continent.
Ibiyode while reaffirming the vision behind the event, highlighted that Africa’s digital future must be driven from within.
“Africa’s digital revolution must be homegrown. Whether you’re building solutions, shaping policy or mentoring young innovators, this is your platform. Together, we’re not just discussing the future, we’re building it,” she said.
