A pan-African movement dedicated to the restoration of black consciousness, awareness, and African unity, United People of Africa, will today celebrate “Africa Day” today.
It said experts had been assembled to dissect the future of the African youths.
Its coordinator, Duro Ikujenyo, said a discussion on the theme: “The Future of Our Youths and Everyday Life Experienc” will be dissected.
He said, “The 60th celebration of the African Union (AU) gives us opportunity as Africans to reflect on how united we are and what we can do to entrench our unity. The United People of Africa calls for the sustenance of values that shows our greatness.”
Ikuneyo posited that Africa Day is celebrated to mark the independence and respect for those brave Africans who lost their lives during their role in the liberation and freedom struggle for Africa.
According to the coordinator, the event which is part of celebrating sixty years of the African Union, adding that there will be an art exhibition at the Nimbus Art Centre nestled above the Bogobiri House in Ikoyi.
He said there would also be performances by young talented artists.
Hosted by Femi Aribisala Jr, popular musicians like Duro Ikujenyo and the Age of Aquarius Band will entertain the audience alongside poets and comedians. Also, there will be a screening of a short film titled: “Festac Song – Let’s Celebrate Africa”.
