The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has lifted its restriction on Bolt operations at airports, allowing the e-hailing platform to resume services after passengers complained about inconvenience and increased transport fares.

The reversal followed intervention by the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, who directed FAAN to address concerns surrounding the rising cost of transportation at the nation’s airports.

Keyamo disclosed the development in a post on his X handle, saying, “Following my directive to FAAN to urgently address the issue of exorbitant taxi fare increases at our airports, the issue has been resolved as follows.”

FAAN subsequently announced that it had reached an agreement with Bolt following discussions between both parties.

In a statement signed by its Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Henry Agbebire, and made available to our correspondent on Thursday, the authority said the discussions had produced an operational framework for Bolt at airports under its management.

“The Authority is therefore pleased to announce that, following constructive engagements, FAAN and Bolt have reached an agreeable operational framework and Bolt is cleared to commence its services at FAAN-managed airports immediately.”

The development followed concerns over the regulation and management of commercial and e-hailing vehicles operating within airport premises.

FAAN said it had been working for almost a decade to address challenges associated with the operations of such vehicles and ensure that transportation services at its airports operate within an appropriate framework.
