Canadian rapper Drake has sparked massive crowds and excitement in downtown Toronto after hiding the release date of his upcoming album, ‘Iceman’, inside a giant block of ice.
The rapper announced the move on Monday, directing fans to a large ice installation in the parking lot of the Bond Hotel. Since the announcement, the location has witnessed what many describe as “organised chaos” as fans arrived with axes, sledgehammers, and flamethrowers to break through the ice.
Some fans reportedly used hairdryers and small campfires to melt the structure, while others camped overnight to be the first to see the hidden date.
The stunt is the latest in a series of dramatic events promoting the new project. On April 12, Drake covered his courtside seats at the Scotiabank Arena in ice. Earlier this month, a loud explosion during a music video shoot in North York also caused a stir, prompting officials to apologise to residents for the noise.
‘Iceman’ is expected to be Drake’s first solo studio album since the 2023 release, ‘For All the Dogs’. The project reportedly features producers such as Tay Keith and Oz, with guest appearances from Central Cee and YEAT.
