Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) has debunked a report claiming it is not investigating Air Peace, describing it as false and misleading.

In a statement issued yesterday, the commission dismissed the report titled: “FG not investigating Air Peace – FCCPC”, which has been circulating on various online platforms. The FCCPC clarified that the story did not originate from the commission and urged the public to disregard it entirely.

The FCCPC reaffirmed its earlier announcement on December 1, 2024, regarding ongoing investigations into consumer complaints in the banking, telecommunications, and aviation sectors. Among the issues being examined is alleged exploitative ticket pricing by Air Peace, including significant price hikes for advance bookings on specific domestic routes.

“These inquiries, conducted under the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Act (FCCPA) 2018, aim to address poor service delivery, exploitative practices, and potential consumer rights violations,” the statement read.

The Commission confirmed that the investigation into Air Peace began on December 3, 2024, as scheduled, and remains active. FCCPC said it is currently reviewing responses and information provided by Air Peace and other entities involved in the probe.

The Commission assured the public that the inquiries are intended to ensure compliance with regulatory standards, promote transparency, and protect consumer interests.

It also pledged to take appropriate actions against any confirmed violations.

“We urge the public to rely solely on verified communications from the FCCPC,” said Ondaje Ijagwu, FCCPC’s Director of Corporate Affairs.
