He commended President Bola Tinubu for making the university a reality while appreciating all those who supported him along the line, adding that the transition was a collective effort.

Gagdi urged relevant stakeholders in the state to join hands in nurturing the university to a level that would make it stand out as one of the best citadels of learning in the country.

Governor Caleb Mutfwang, represented by the speaker of the House of Assembly, Gabriel Dewan, in his remarks, assured that the state government would give the institution maximum support to achieve its desired goals.

Team leader from the Federal Ministry of Education and a director of Colleges of Education, Dr Uche Cecilia Ubah, said the university needs a massive upgrade from what was on ground.

According to her, upgrading the university is not the work of the federal government alone but should be the responsibility of all stakeholders including the state government.

Chairman of the Governing Council of the university, Funsho Olumoko, commended the lawmaker for his foresight in ensuring the conversion.
