FCT Football Association (FA) has restated its commitment to the development of football at grassroots.
Its chairman, Abba Mouktar Mohammad, gave the assurance while inaugurating the newly elected chairmen and board members of Football Council of Abaji, Abuja municipal Area Council (AMAC), Bwari, Gwagwaladathe, Kuje and Kwali on Thursday in Gwagwalada, Abuja.
He congratulated the new Football Council chairmen and their board members for their victory in a free and fair contest, saying their elections and inaugurations are the right steps towards rejuvenating football development at the grassroots.
While charging the new Football Council boards to hit the ground running at the respective Councils, Mouktar said FCT FA under his leadership was determined to provide the enabling environment for the development of football in the federal capital city.
He commended the coaches and referees association as well as sporting media and other stakeholders for their continuous support for his board of FCT FA.
FCT’s director of sports development, Mr Istifanus Luka, who was represented at the inauguration by his deputy, Iyiola Ogundele, applauded Mouktar his giant stride in football development in FCT and enjoined new chairmen of the Football Councils to emulate their boss in their respective domains.
The new Football Councils are saddled with the responsibility of developing and running the administration of football in the Area Councils of FCT, and will serve for four years tenure.
