In an effect to close healthcare gaps in the country‘s rural and underserved communities, the federal government has inaugurated the Renewed Hope Health Connect (RHHC) Management Committee, a strategic step toward delivering quality medical services across 55 senatorial districts nationwide.

The  Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Dr. Iziaq Salako, officially launched the committee yesterday,  emphasising  that the programme is part of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, with a clear focus on reaching vulnerable populations often left behind by the conventional healthcare system.

The RHHC, which is already captured in the 2025 national budget, is designed as a medical outreach initiative, bringing essential healthcare services directly to the doorsteps of those most in need.

Dr. Salako, who chairs the committee, outlined its key responsibilities, including coordinating with consultants and firms, ensuring equitable service distribution, monitoring impact, and promoting partnerships with health agencies, NGOs, and local leaders.

The committee will also identify constituency-specific healthcare needs, manage logistics, and oversee the procurement and deployment of medical supplies and equipment.

The newly formed committee includes directors from relevant departments, representatives from the Coordinating Minister‘s office, the Permanent Secretary, the National Eye Health Program, and the Minister’s technical aides. Dr. Charles Nzelu, Director of the Special Duties Department, will serve as Secretary.

The initiative reaffirms the government’s commitment to inclusive healthcare delivery and its recognition that bridging the rural-urban health divide is essential for national development.
