Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Education, Pankshin in Plateau State, Prof. Noel Wannang, has reiterated his commitment to taking the institution to the next level in infrastructure and sought collaboration with the joint traditional council of Pankshin/Kanke local government area to achive the task.
He stated this when he led his management team to visit His Royal Majesty, the Ngolong Ngas, Nde Jika Golit.
Wannang said they were at the palace to seek royal blessings to enable them pilot the affairs of the institution.
The VC said as the first substantive helmsman of the university and an indigene, he had the mandate to lift the school in all aspects and to leave a legacy of making it among the 10 best universities in Nigeria.
He commended the role played by the monarch in upgrading the institution to a federal university status and solicited for maximum cooperation from philanthropists and the Ngas Nation towards the development of the school.
He commiserated with the monarch, the Joint Pankshin/Kanke Traditional Council and the Ngas Nation over the recent attack on his official vehicle while appreciating the paramount ruler for his maturity in handling the matter.
In his reaction, Jika Golit said he was overwhelmed with the visit and assured the team of maximum support in steering the affair of the citadel of learning.
The management team also visited the chairman of Pankshin local government area, Hon. Felix Gonung, in his Office.
Prof. Wannang praised him for the achievements he has recorded while in office and sought for areas of cooperation.
He identified the completion of the university fence project as strategic and the quick intervention of stakeholders to tackle the security challenges in the community.
He urged the extension and expansion of the road shoulders and drainage construction on the Pankshin-Jos Road in view of landscaping and beautification of the main gate of the university.
Gonung, who appreciated the vice chancellor and his management team for the visit, assured them of his administration’s readiness to partner with the university to improve campus security.
