Federation Lauds Abia First Lady’s Philanthropic Gestures

Federation of Muslim Women’s Associations in Nigeria (FOMWAN), Abia State chapter, has extolled the wife of the governor, Pricilla Otti for her philanthropic gestures, urging her to continue in that direction.

President of the state’s chapter of the association, Azeesat Jimoh, made the remarks during the distribution of food palliatives to over 1,000 indigent women in the state in Umuahia, the capital.

She described Mrs Otti as not only a detribalised leader, but also as one who had been using her position to better the lots of the less-privileged, indigent and the vulnerable in society.

Mrs Jimoh, who used the forum to decorate the first lady with the association’s uniform, lauded her for inviting the chapter to the occasion and always carrying it along in her activities.

In her response, Mrs Otti thanked the chapter and the members for “honouring the invitation, the kind remarks and a wonderful, fine gift”, which she described as a great treasure.

She assured that working from behind her husband, Alex Otti, she will always lookout for areas to better the lots of women, the less privileged and the vulnerable to complement his efforts.

The state’s first lady also commended the wife of the president, Sen Oluremi Tinubu for her recent empowerment of 1,000 women petty-traders in the state with financial support.

The palliatives, courtesy of the state government in collaboration with the Renewed Hope Initiatives (RHI), include bags of rice and cartons of tomato paste.

The beneficiaries were drawn from the All Progressives Congress, Peoples Democratic Party, Accord Party, Zenith Party, Labour Party, associations, unions, and groups, among others.
