Association of Nigerian Female Students (ANFS) has called for the reversal of the recent hike in school fees in Nigerian universities.
Its president, Comrade Opeyemi Mary Olorungbemi of the department of Mass Communication, Nasarawa State University, Keffi said the increment is creating untold hardship on Nigerians.
Thanking those who supported her aspiration to be elected as president, she also condemned the hike in fuel price which is already causing hardship on Nigerian students especially the female students.
“Going further, permit me to condemn the recent hike in federal institutions tuition fee as I call on a total reversal to status quo so as to avert further hardship on Nigerians, students and parents as we believe a total reversal will help curb the society menace and campus social vices.
“Also, we condemn the hike in fuel price nationwide which is already causing hardship on Nigerian students, especially the female students.
“As we’re striving to access education, we don’t need further hardship as this may lead to most of our students indulging in campus prostitution and other campus social vices,” she said.
Olorungbemi, who promised to remodel the association, commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for signing into law the students loan bill, saying that it is a morale booster to the Nigerian educational system and the girl child.
