Rangers defender Emmanuel Fernandez is still basking in the glow of scoring his first goal for the Nigerian Super Eagles.
The 24-year-old netted Nigeria’s second goal in their recent 2-2 draw against Jordan’s Al-Nashama on Tuesday night.
Fernandez, who made his senior international debut for Éric Chelle’s side last Friday against Iran, made a significant impact in only his second appearance for the three-time African champions. Not only did he help solidify the defence, but he also contributed a crucial goal.
Born in London to Nigerian parents, Fernandez shared his pride on X, stating, “Honoured and grateful to play for Nigeria. First start, first goal. Enjoyable experience.”
