Ekiti State government has disclosed that the Ado-Ekiti–Iyin–Aramoko–Itawure Road has been awarded for reconstruction by the federal government.
The announcement of the contract award for the major route linking the state to Osun State border was contained in a statement by the commissioner for Information, Rt. Hon. Taiwo Olatunbosun.
Olatunbosun said the contract was awarded to Messrs CBC Global Civil & Building Construction Nigeria Limited, with a completion timeline of 24 months starting from March 23, 2026.
The 56.18-kilometre road, according to the Commissioner, will begin at Fajuyi Park in Ado-Ekiti and be constructed using reinforced concrete from the Police Headquarters in Ado-Ekiti to the Osun State boundary.
He further explained that the project has already moved beyond the planning stage, as the site has been handed over to the contractor and construction work has commenced around the Erio-Ekiti axis, reflecting the Federal Government’s commitment to delivering the project on schedule.
Describing the development as a significant boost to the socio-economic growth of Ekiti State and the Southwest region as a whole, Olatunbosun noted that the road serves as a critical corridor connecting key parts of the country, and its reconstruction will greatly improve movement, ease transportation challenges, and open up more opportunities for trade and commerce.
“This project goes beyond road construction; it is about improving lives, strengthening economic ties, and enhancing regional integration. We sincerely appreciate the Federal Government for this intervention and assure the Federal Ministry of Works of our full support to ensure its successful completion,” he said.
While reaffirming the administration of Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s commitment to initiatives that drive sustainable development and improve the well-being of the people, he noted that the project is one of the gains of the Governor’s frequent engagements and strategic visits to the President and federal establishments in Abuja.
The commissioner also commended President Bola Tinubu for fulfilling his campaign promises to the people of Ekiti State through impactful infrastructure development.
He appealed to residents, road users, and other stakeholders to cooperate with the contractor and relevant authorities, particularly in managing traffic and observing safety measures throughout the construction period.
