A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on Thursday, May 8, 2025, at the Ministry’s headquarters in Abuja. The Honourable Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Professor Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, signed on behalf of the federal government, while Chief Diana Chen, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of CIG Motors, signed on behalf of the company.

The training programme will be delivered across the six geopolitical zones of the country, with designated centres located in Lagos (South West), Enugu (South East), Akwa Ibom (South South), Plateau (North Central), Adamawa (North East), and Kaduna (North West).

Under the terms of the MoU, the ministry will be responsible for coordinating all logistical and operational aspects of the programme, including monitoring and evaluation.

CIG Motors, as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), will provide technical training and professional expertise at no cost to the ministry or the federal government.

The agreement is set to run for an initial period of five years, with provisions for automatic renewal unless either party gives notice of intent to terminate at least six months before the end of the term.

This collaboration is part of ongoing efforts by the Ministry to implement the “Skill to Wealth” programme, which aims to equip Nigerian youths and vulnerable populations with practical skills for self-reliance and employment generation.

Professor Yilwatda praised CIG Motors for its commitment to youth empowerment, describing the initiative as a timely intervention that complements the Federal Government’s poverty reduction and job creation agenda. He emphasized that the project aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritizes inclusive growth and sustainable development.

The statement was issued by Iliya Rhoda Ishaku, Director of Information and Public Relations, Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction.
