FG Distributes Relief Materials To Windstorm Victims In Nasarawa

The federal government has flagged off distribution of relief materials to 1,000  persons displaced by windstorm in Nasarawa State.

The federal commissioner, National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced (NCFRMI), Mr Ahmed Tijanni, while flagging off the distribution in Lafia at the weekend, said it was in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu to bring succour to IDPs.

According to the commissioner, having conducted first a hand assessment of the situation of IDPs in the state, the commission decided to bring succour to the IDPs through distribution of relief materials.

Tijanni, while commiserating with the Nasarawa State government and the victims, assured that they would not be forgotten until their sources of livelihood are fully restored.

“I would like to commiserate with all those who have lost their families, homes and sources of livelihood occasioned by banditry, natural disasters as a result of climate change and other forms of man to man inhumanity.

“I want to assure you that by the grace of God, you will not be forgotten His excellency,  President Bola Tinubu, neither the federal government nor the Nasarawa State government under the amiable leadership of Gov Abdullahi Sule and the commission will forget you.

“We shall stand with you through the thick and thin until your livelihoods is fully restored in a dignified manner,” he assured.

He solicited strong collaboration between the state government in assisting vulnerable people in the state, and also to provide durable solutions to IDPs in the area of mental health, skill acquisition.

The commissioner for special duties, humanitarian services and non- governmental organisations, Margaret Elayo,  commended the federal government for supporting the IDPs.

She disclosed that the 1000 households that had recently affected by the windstorm in the were the beneficiaries of the gesture from the federal government.
