FG Inaugurates Committee On National Carbon Budget

Minister of Environment, Malam Balarabe Abbass Lawal yesterday in Abuja inaugurated the technical working committee on National Carbon Budget for the country.

The minister in a keynote address said Nigeria stood at a crucial juncture in addressing the climate challenges that threaten its environment, economy and social fabric.

Abbass reiterated that the ministry was committed to developing a robust and credible carbon budget which would reflect its dedication to fulfill international climate commitments, notably under the Paris Agreement.

The minister who said the development of the carbon budget was not solely a technical exercise but a national imperative that involves collaborative efforts from all sectors of our society,  noted that it would create the opportunity to align the nation’s climate policies with sustainable economic growth, social development, and environmental preservation.
