A technical team from the Federal Ministry of Health has begun assessing facilities for the commencement of operations at the newly established Federal Orthopaedic Hospital, Billiri, Gombe State.

The team, led by Director in the Federal Ministry of Health, Dr. Amina Zubair Kazaure, arrived in Gombe on Wednesday.

The officials also paid a courtesy visit to the Gombe State Commissioner for Health, Prof. Abdullahi Adamu Bojude, before proceeding with its assignment.

Kazaure said the assessment marks the first in a series of visits to the hospital’s temporary and permanent sites following President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s approval of the facility earlier this year.

She explained that the committee would evaluate existing infrastructure and make recommendations on what is required for the hospital to begin full operations.

The team leader commended the Gombe State Government for providing facilities at the temporary site, assuring that the federal government would provide the necessary support to ensure the hospital takes off successfully.

Responding, Bojude expressed appreciation to the Federal Government for establishing the orthopaedic hospital in Gombe and pledged the state’s full cooperation toward its smooth take-off.

He also appealed to the Chief Medical Director of the Federal Teaching Hospital, Gombe, Prof. Abdullahi Yusuf Mohammed, to provide technical support and personnel to facilitate the immediate commencement of services.
