The Federal Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology has vowed to ensure that all Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) and private sector organisations register their technology transfer agreements with the National Office For Technology Acquisition and Promotion (NOTAP) as stipulated in its mandates.

The Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Chief Uche Geoffrey Nnaji stated this at the commissioning of the multi-million Naira corporate headquarters of NOTAP in Abuja on Tuesday.

The Minister stressed that the will continue to provide the necessary support to NOTAP towards achieving its mandates of regulating and registering technology transfer agreements in the country and promoting indigenous technological activities.

He emphasised the importance of a conducive work environment towards attaining efficiency, increased productivity and enhanced staff performance for optimal service delivery and commended NOTAP for the edifice.

“The completion of this project is one of the landmark and legacy achievements in the history of NOTAP. I am most delighted because this project is one of the fastest infrastructural projects executed by the Federal Government, which is as a result of the strategic importance attached to the technological advancement of our dear country.

“I therefore heartily congratulate NOTAP for achieving this lofty and remarkable height. This greatly underscores the critical role of this edifice to the effective implementation of the NOTAP mandates and functions,” he stated.

In his remarks, the NOTAP Director General, Dr DanAzumi Ibrahim said the agency has saved the country

N74.13 billion which would have left the country as capital flight while its internally generated revenue has risen by 100%.

Ibrahim said under his leadership, NOTAP has automated the process of technology transfer agreements registration, provided support to researchers, strengthened industrial partnership leading to the upgrade of laboratories in many universities in the country while staff welfare has improved.

Ibrahim said, the building was necessitated by further growth in staff strength, the need to provide conducive working environment that is adequate and befitting to serve as a Technology Office of the country.

“I am however grateful to God that the desire to provide the Office with a befitting headquarters complex eventually materialised under my tenure, with the overwhelming support and commitment of the entire management and staff, ” he stressed.
