FIFA has unveiled the official volunteer uniform for the 2026 World Cup, presenting a bold and colourful design set to be worn by tens of thousands of volunteers across North America.
The kit, designed by FIFA partner adidas, will be worn by volunteers operating across 16 host cities in Canada, Mexico and the United States. It is intended to provide comfort, functionality and easy identification while reflecting the energy and diversity of the tournament.
Featuring the FIFA World Cup 2026 visual identity, the uniform incorporates the Volunteer Programme’s distinctive heart-shaped motif, symbolising the central role volunteers play in delivering the competition. The design also draws inspiration from North America’s varsity jacket culture, with customisable host city patches allowing volunteers to represent their local area.
Each volunteer will receive a range of clothing options, including trainers, socks, T-shirts, shorts, joggers, a mid-layer jacket, a cap and a waist bag. The collection has been developed with breathable materials and layering options to accommodate the varying climates across the host nations.
FIFA’s Chief Operating Officer for the tournament, Heimo Schirgi, said the uniform reflects the “unmatched energy and dedication” of the volunteer workforce.
“As we unveil the look of our biggest volunteer team yet, we celebrate the unmatched energy and dedication of the volunteers – who will not only help deliver the greatest sporting event on the planet, but will also ensure that every fan, player and guest is welcomed with warmth and a spirit of joy,” he said.
Schirgi added that the design honours both the global nature of the tournament and the local identity of each host city.
More than one million people applied to join the programme, with nearly 50,000 volunteers ultimately selected, making it the largest in FIFA history. Participants range in age from 18 to over 80, reflecting the diversity of the global football community.
Volunteers will support operations across 24 functional areas, including stadiums, training sites and FIFA Fan Festival venues. Many see the role as a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to contribute to one of the world’s biggest sporting events.
Training for volunteers began last month across host cities, marking the first time many participants met in person. In the coming weeks, they will collect their uniforms and accreditation ahead of the tournament.
FIFA says the uniform will act not only as a practical tool during the competition but also as a unifying symbol and lasting memento of the 2026 World Cup experience.
