Nottingham Forest might be forced to cash in on their stars including Taiwo Awoniyi this summer as they look to avoid severe financial fair play sanctions.

The Daily Mail UK reports that the club face a battle to keep key centre-back Murillo as they face a summer of major uncertainty.

Murillo is not the only one who could be on his way out the club but also Morgan Gibbs-White and Awoniyi. Both players are expected to attract interest from other clubs in the English top flight and from other leagues in the summer.

Nottingham Forest has been sanctioned with an immediate deduction of points for breaching the Profitability and Sustainability Rules of the Premier League.

The club is in the relegation zone with nine matches to the end of the 2023-2024 season.

With projected losses over a three-year period set to exceed the permitted £82 million ceiling by up to £30m, Forest now face a race against time to rebalance their books and comply with the rules.

One of the most valuable assets at Nuno Santo’s disposal is Nigerian international Awoniyi, who has impressed with his all-action displays leading the line since arriving from Union Berlin in the summer of 2022.

However, the 26-year-old’s consistent performances have inevitably attracted attention from rival clubs who would likely be willing to pay a premium fee for his services.
