An early Friday morning fire has destroyed three shops and other valuables at Sango in Ibadan, Oyo State capital.

General Manager of Oyo State Fire Service Agency, Akinyemi Akinyinka, who confirmed the incident said it occurred behind Fart Oil filling Station at Sango in Ibadan.

Akinyinka said the emergency was reported at exactly 04:41hours early Friday morning through a telephone call.

He added that the agency’s personnel led by ACFS Adedeji (Mrs) promptly deployed to the scene of the incident.

“On getting there, it was discovered to be three shops out of a row of 10 prefabricated shops well alight.

“We swiftly swung into action and restricted the fire from spreading to other shops and the fire was completely extinguished.

Although he noted that no casualty was recorded in the fire incident, the inferno however razed three shops, freezers and drinks.

“All the nearby shops and properties worth millions of naira were saved by the officers of the fire service,” he said.

Akinyinka attributed the cause of the fire to sparks from a deep freezer which was plugged overnight and ingnited nearby combustible materials before setting the shops ablaze.
