Fire Guts Senior Lawyer’s Chamber In Kwara

The Ghalib law chambers of renowned legal luminary, Prof. Yusuf Ali, senior advocate of Nigeria, was on Wednesday gutted by fire.

LEADERSHIP gathered that the fire outbreak which occurred at about 9:22am, was caused by power surge.

Spokesman of Kwara State Fire Service, Hassan Adekunle confirmed the incident in a statement.

Adekunle said the swift intervention of the fire fighters saved the 79 office rooms in the Chamber as only one room was destroyed by the fire.

“On Wednesday, April 2, 2025, at approximately 09:22 hours, the Kwara State Fire Service responded to a fire outbreak at Ghalib Chambers, Unity Road, Ilorin.

“Upon receiving the distress call, firefighters were immediately deployed to the scene. Their swift intervention prevented further destruction, containing the fire to a single office on the second floor of the two-storey building, which houses about 80 offices”, Hassan said.

He further disclosed that, “Preliminary investigations revealed that the fire was caused by a power surge, which affected an air conditioner and some books.”
