Global urban mobility platform inDrive has launched a set of essential safety tips to help Nigerian customers ensure secure and efficient deliveries.

This initiative comes as the platform experiences significant growth in the country, with increasing demand for person-to-person (P2P) and business-to-business (B2B) deliveries.

The newly introduced safety measures include selecting reputable couriers with good ratings, properly labeling packages with recipient details, noting item fragility and weight, and choosing suitable transport vehicles.

Additionally, customers are encouraged to document their packages with photos, wrap them with recycled materials, camouflage valuable contents, and personally deliver expensive items such as electronics, jewelry, or cash.

This announcement follows inDrive’s recent analysis of 5,000 customer comments on delivery experiences in Nigeria throughout 2024. The findings highlighted key delivery trends, with food items (17%) leading the most common deliveries, followed by clothing (15%), electronics (10%), documents (4%), and medicine (2%). Other notable deliveries included cosmetics, textiles, and personalized gifts.

Speaking on the initiative, inDrive’s Senior Business Development spokesperson,Timothy Oladimeji emphasised the company’s commitment to enhancing delivery security and efficiency.

“At inDrive, we are dedicated to providing reliable and secure delivery services. Our platform has witnessed remarkable growth, with P2P deliveries tripling and B2B deliveries expanding sixfold in Nigeria. Over the past year, we have improved geo-tracking features, enhanced courier selection based on user feedback, and streamlined order processes. While we continue to refine our services, we strongly encourage customers to remain vigilant, particularly when sending valuable items.”

The company’s analysis also revealed some of the most unique deliveries made in Nigeria, ranging from traditional meals and fashion items to rare and unconventional objects. Some notable deliveries included 42 tubers of yam, a five-liter bowl of soup, a bag of assorted small chops, and a box of pizza.

In the fashion category, deliveries featured elaborate headgear (autogele), special event fabrics (aso-oke and asoebi), vintage shirts, wedding dresses, and waist trainers. Other extraordinary items included a bonsai tree, an air fryer, a bass guitar, a PlayStation 5 disc, and even excavator keys.

Gift deliveries also emerged as a popular trend, showcasing Nigeria’s culture of appreciation and celebration. Items such as flowers, surprise packages, and hampers were frequently sent through the platform.

To further support users, inDrive has made the safety tips readily accessible on its mobile app, reinforcing its commitment to delivering a seamless and secure customer experience in Nigeria’s fast-growing logistics sector.
