In a bid to bridge the housing deficit in Kwara State, a real estate agency, Orbit Africa Properties, has embarked on a smart city project in Oke- Oyi, headquarters of Ilorin East local government area of the state.
The firm has acquired a large expanse of land in Oke- Oyi for the development of a housing estate, christened Kigali Estate.
During the allocation of lands to interested members of the public, the co- founder of the firm, Mr. Wisdom Okoko said the initiative aimed at providing houses for the people at affordable cost.
He said the scheme also included the presentation of certificate of occupancy (C of O), and survey plan to owners at the newly established Kigali Estate.
Okoko explained that the estate is expected to complement the Smart City project of the Kwara State government.
“We started the development of the estate where we are going to be providing basic infrastructure and amenities including water, electricity, roads, fencing and security.
“Presently we have over 100 clients who have subscribed to the project. We have come for the first batch of the allocation and this is simply giving the people their lands,” Okoko said.
He restated the preparedness of his firm to key into the developmental stride of the state government and solving the housing challenge in the state.
The community head of Oke- Oyi, Alh Saliu Odedeji, expressed delight about the housing scheme.
He assured the new land owners of peaceful co-existence with the people of the community.
