Firms Partner To Boost Integrated Logistics Across Nigeria, Others

Two firms, Lagos Free Zone and CEVA Logistics, have signed a joint venture (JV) agreement to strengthen integrated logistics services across Nigeria and the West African region.

The agreement, recently approved by the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission, will see CEVA Logistics take a majority stake in the new entity.

The partnership is expected to combine CEVA Logistics’ global network and operational expertise with Lagos Free Zone’s infrastructure and proximity to the Lekki Deep Sea Port. The JV will establish a warehouse facility within the free zone, which will be the first to be operated by a global logistics company in the zone.

Officials said the facility is designed to improve access for importers and multinational manufacturers targeting markets in West Africa, particularly within the Economic Community of West African States.

Managing Ddrector and chief executive officer of Lagos Free Zone, Adesuwa Ladoja, said the agreement aligns with efforts to develop a one-stop hub for manufacturing and trade. She noted that integrating port access, industrial infrastructure, and logistics services is expected to enhance the efficiency and competitiveness of businesses operating in the region.

According to her, companies operating within the free zone will benefit from duty-free export opportunities to ECOWAS markets, as well as improved cargo movement through the Lagos Free Zone Green Channel. The corridor, approved by the Nigeria Customs Service earlier in 2026, enables faster transfer of goods between the port and the free zone, reducing delays and associated costs.

Vice president, Air and Ocean Product at CEVA IMEA, Jean-Baptiste Rambaud, said the partnership reflects the company’s investment strategy in Nigeria and its commitment to supporting global clients exporting into West Africa.

He added that the collaboration is expected to improve supply chain efficiency and simplify the movement of goods into the region, particularly for manufacturers in fast-moving consumer goods and other sectors reliant on timely delivery.

Industry observers say the JV could strengthen Nigeria’s position as a logistics hub in West Africa, as demand grows for more efficient trade infrastructure to serve the region’s expanding consumer market.
