As part of its initiative to foster nation-building and develop sporting talent across the country, First Bank of Nigeria Limited has pledged its support for the 2024 National Sports Festival (NSF) set to take place at various sporting venues in Ogun State from today, May 16th to 30th.

The Festival, titled ‘Gateway Games’, will showcase over 15,000 athletes from across the country competing in both individual and team sports. Recognised as Nigeria’s equivalent of the Olympic Games, this multi-sport event will award a total of 2,150 medals across 549 events. Endorsed by the National Sports Commission (NSC), the Gateway Games 2024 will highlight sports such as Football, Basketball, Tennis, volleyball, handball, athletics, table tennis, taekwondo, karate, boxing, wrestling, weightlifting and others.

The festival aims to unite young people, promote regional harmony, uncover new talents, and instil a sense of national pride. A notable new feature of NSF 2024 is the introduction of the Invited Junior Athletes category, allowing junior competitors to participate alongside their more experienced counterparts, providing them with a platform to showcase their talents on a national stage.

With the support of First Bank, a leading player in the banking sector and one of the event’s sponsors, the bank has consistently demonstrated its commitment to nation-building and the development of sporting talent through its First@Sports initiative. By sponsoring the 2024 NSF, First Bank reaffirms its dedication to promoting significant initiatives.
The National Sports Festival is a biennial multi-sport event that brings together thousands of athletes from Nigeria’s 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
