First Bank’s Kaduna Golf Tourney Tees Off December 2

The First Bank sponsored Kaduna Golf Tournament 2023 will tee off on Saturday, December 2, 2023 at the Kaduna Golf Club, Kaduna.The tournament which is the inaugural edition and first of its kind since the inception of the Kaduna Golf Club in 1921; 102 years ago, would be competed for by no fewer than 200 amateur golfers in different categories in both the men’s and ladies’ divisions.

Speaking to LEADERSHIP Sports yesterday in Abuja ahead of the one-day event, captain of the Kaduna Golf Club, Mr Ken Nwankwo, said participants which will be drawn from across the country, will swing for laurels in various categories: handicap 0-12, handicap 13-18, handicap 19-25, veteran men and ladies and others.

He said the event, being the first-ever First Bank-sponsored tournament in the history of the Kaduna Golf Club, participants would have memorable stories to tell both about the club and the sponsor.

“This is the first time First Bank is hosting an event in Kaduna Golf Club, since its inception 102 years ago and it is going to be a memorable one for the participants. We are expecting no fewer than 200 golfers from across the country for the competition.

“There would be a lot of things to play for. We have a lot of attractive prizes to play for and the course is now in good shape.”

“First Bank, since it is the first time they are coming to the club, it will be an opportunity for them and the players to both network. So, we are expecting a lot and you know that First Bank is not just any other bank. I can remember their sponsorship of the Polo tournament in Kaduna and it was a topnotch, a lot of things to watch out for.

“This is going to be an experimental event and the subsequent editions would be much bigger,” Captain Nwankwo said.

Nwankwo added that the First Bank-sponsored tournament is part of his commitment to take Kaduna Golf Club to the next level and make it a reference point in terms of quality tournaments and enhance good performance Course in the country.

“My focus has always been to take Kaduna Golf Club to the next level by a way of improving on the Course and quality tournaments that can improve our revenue based.”
