Nigeria’s First Lady and National Chairman of the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), Senator Oluremi Tinubu, yesterday commissioned key projects in Kogi State and flagged off an empowerment programme for over 800 women as part of her one-day working visit to the state.

The First Lady commissioned the newly completed Kogi State Treasury House and the Primary Healthcare Centre at Lokongoma Phase I before proceeding to the Government House, Lokoja, where she launched the distribution of empowerment materials and start-up grants to women beneficiaries under the Renewed Hope Initiative.

Speaking during the programme, Senator Tinubu said the empowerment initiative was designed to improve livelihoods, promote self-reliance and strengthen household incomes. She urged beneficiaries to utilise the support judiciously to enhance their businesses and improve the well-being of their families.

She noted that the Renewed Hope Initiative remains committed to complementing government efforts to reduce poverty and expand economic opportunities for women and vulnerable groups across the country.

She also commended Hajia Sefinat Ododo for her commitment to the welfare of women, families and vulnerable persons through programmes aimed at improving their socio-economic conditions.

The First Lady was received on arrival by Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo; his wife and Kogi State Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Initiative, Hajia Sefinat Usman Ododo; governors from the North Central Zone, ministers, senior government officials, traditional rulers and other dignitaries.
