First Standard Broker Receives ISO Certification On Quality Mgt System

First Standard Insurance Brokers Limited (FSIB), has received  International Standards Organisation (ISO) 9001:2015 Quality Management System Certification for its outstanding performance in the management of the outfit in the last 20 years of its existence.

ISO 9001:2015 specifies requirements for a quality management system when an organisation needs to demonstrate its ability to consistently provide products and services that meet customer demands and satisfies all applicable statutory and regulatory requirements.

Speaking at the unveiling of the ISO certification in Lagos at the weekend, the managing director/CEO, First Standard Insurance Brokers Limited, Mrs Adetayo John-Fishers, said: “with all sense of humility, we consider the achievement to be a major milestone worthy of formal presentation to this esteemed gathering made of the crème de la crème of the Andrew society and the professions.

In March 2022, FSIB, she said, attained 20 years of a very successful business operation in Nigeria, stating that the organisation has been opportune to provide both insurance and reinsurance services across sectors of the economy to clients.

“This includes but not limited to Aviation insurance, for the fastest growing airline in Africa, Oil and Gas including National producer ,the public sector in for the largest life insurance scheme in Nigeria, financial institutions including the bankers bank, State governments, construction companies, telecoms, hospitality, the health sector including the newest and best equipped private health care provider in our nation, various SMEs and high net worth individuals amongst many others,” she stated.

She said FSIB sees untapped opportunities in the Nigerian insurance Industry and that the ISO certification is the first step in unlocking the exploiting the market.

The Commissioner for Insurance, Mr.  Sunday Thomas, applauded the firm for the great feat, imploring other insurance practitioners to emulate the firm by seeking to operate according to global best practices.

Thomas who was represented by a senior manager in NAICOM, Kenneth Egun, added that, operating with the global best practices would lead to prompt settlement of genuine claims; reduce non-compliance and enhance profitability.

Chairman, House Committee on Insurance and Actuarial Matters, Hon. Darlington Nwokocha, applauded the firm for setting a legacy which other broking firms have to emulate.

Earlier, the president of the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria(CIIN), Mr. Edwin Igbiti stressed that this achievement is a laudable one, not just for the broking firm, but for the entire insurance industry.

“This global recognition indeed attests that First Standard Insurance Brokers Limited, is known for excellence and premium service delivery in the Nigerian Insurance Broking business space. It equally puts the spotlight on the company as one who meets the ever-changing needs of its customers and stakeholders as well as its immense contributions to the growth of the nation’s economy since it started operations over 20 years ago,” he stressed.

He believes this global certification will further reinforce the company’s efforts towards offering exceptional insurance protection to individuals and businesses in Nigeria and beyond.
