Flood, Vector Control: YOSEPA Evacuates, Fumigates Drainages In Damaturu, Other Places

As part of measures to avert flood disaster among other diseases, the Yobe State Environmental Sanitation Agency (YOSEPA) has embarked on the evacuation of drainages in Damaturu the Yobe State capital and some other places.

The exercise led by the general manager of the agency Alhaji Baba Gana Modu among other staff, equally includes the fumigation of the evacuated drainages to effectively ensure vector control.

The GM has while speaking on the measure said the agency has apart from Damaturu also conducting the exercise in Buni-Yadi and Damagum geared towards ensuring a free flow of water and killing mosquitoes among others.

He said, “The evacuation and fumigation exercise embarked upon by the agency was meant to avert flood that may occur as a result of blockage of drainages across the three towns.

“Similarly, the measure was also meant to ensure vector control including mosquitos and other parasites that can cause diseases such as malaria, cholera among others.

“The measure was also in line with the directive of His Excellency Hon Mai Mala Buni towards ensuring a proper planning by being proactive in all issues that has to do with the health of the people across the state,” Modu emphasized.

The GM used the forum and commended governor Buni for his support to the agency assuring that they will continue to do the needful with a view to ensuring a healthy society.

He used the forum and called on the people to imbibe the culture of hygiene and desist from dumping refuse into drains adding that such attitude will only create diseases among other catastrophe in the society..
