This was disclosed at the commissioning of 100 housing units constructed by the bank in Dutse, the state capital by Governor Muhammad Badaru Abubakar.

He said the project would complement the state government’s efforts at providing affordable accommodation for the people of the state.

The governor who was represented by the commissioner for land, regional and urban development, Hon Sagir Musa Ahmad, said his administration had allocated thousands of plots of land to private organisations for the construction of residential houses.

He however revealed that plan is under way for the commencement of massive housing estates across the 27 local government areas of the state for workers and other interested persons.

In his speech, the managing director of FMBN, Mr Madu Hamman, said the 100 housing units’ estate was constructed in collaboration with Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Trade Union Congress (TUC) and others.

He said the estate has access roads, electricity, water and other basic amenities, adding that it consists of 20 units of one-bedroom and 40 units of two and three-bedrooms.

He said, “This housing estate in Dutse, the state capital was one of the three estates we constructed in the state at the cost of over N3 billion.”

Hamman said the effort was aimed at easing the housing deficit in the country and also help workers to own their houses.

“Equally, these projects we embarked all over the nation will provide job opportunities, reduce corruption and enhance social and economic development of the country,” he said.

The FMBN boss commended the state government for its support in executing the project.
