Foundation Assists Rural Communities Fight Poverty In FCT

A non-profit organisation based in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja, Zoe’s Flower The Foundation has intensified its efforts to help the less-privileged in rural communities in the nation’s capital to eradicate extreme poverty.

The Foundation in the spirit of the New Year organised a thanksgiving celebration to make the Founders’ day on Monday, at the compound of Head of Durumi 2 Community, Chief Danjuma Tanko Anyidadubo, where it assisted the vulnerable in the community, located in the nation’s capital amid other humanitarian activities in other parts of the FCT.

The fun-filled event was marked by the distribution of clothing materials and footwear, and the donation of food items, such as rice, spaghetti, noodles, tomato paste, and different kinds of seasonings, among others, to the rural dwellers.

As part of the humanitarian gesture, the foundation also visited some hospitals in the FCT on New Year Day and donated gift items and cash to patients for their upkeep.

The founder, Uchenna Duru-Nwaotule in her remarks said that the NGO has been assisting and empowering vulnerable women and children in the past ten years, adding that it has also organised workshops and training to improve the skills and capacity of women and girls.

She said “We aim to aid the vulnerable girl child and women to achieve their full potential, live productive lives, and make an impact in the world. We aspire to eliminate the injustice of poverty and give the vulnerable a chance at living.

“We are here this New Year’s day to do our usual annual reach out programme for the vulnerable, especially for women and the girl child, in the FCT.”

She said further that the foundation’s major focus is training women and girls in different skills to assist at least 1miilion people nationwide to exit extreme poverty.

“We are trying to empower beneficiaries, economically, educationally, and vocationally so they can be who God has ordained them to be,” she said.

The head of Durumi 2 Community, Chief Danjuma Tanko Anyidadubo, commended the foundation for their support to the community even as he acknowledged the enormous contribution it has made to the development of the girl -child. He also tasked the foundation to do more.

The beneficiaries, who were elated, lauded the foundation as they went home with different prizes and cash gifts.
