DSS Arrests Man Over Call For Military Coup On Social Media

The Department of State Services (DSS) has arrested a man identified as Innocent Chukwuma in Oyigbo, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, for allegedly using his social media account to call for a military coup in Nigeria.

Security expert, Zagazola Makama, who disclosed the arrest in a post on his X handle on Wednesday, said the suspect was traced and apprehended by DSS operatives after he used his twitter account, “@TheAgroman,” to canvass support for the military to overthrow the government.

In one of his posts, Chukwuma wrote: “A coup in Nigeria is needed. Dispose of APC, suspend the Nigerian Government, and join the AES. That is all we need now. It will happen eventually. Nigerians, the military needs your support now! Only them can save this country. The bastard in Aso Rock has basically sold this country to the West, and they run our intelligence apparatus. Only the military can reset this country. Support them.”

According to Makama, the DSS moved swiftly after monitoring the suspect’s online activity and tracked him to Oyigbo where he was taken into custody.

A source quoted in the post said the suspect was cooperating with investigators as the agency continued its probe into the matter.

As of the time of filing this report, the DSS had not announced any formal charges against Chukwuma. However, his X account has been suspended for violating the community guidelines set by X Corp.
