A foundation funded by a member representing Awe/Doma/Keana federal constituency in the House of Representative, Abubakar Hassan Nalaraba, has awarded scholarships worth N100 million to 1000 under-privileged students across the 13 LGAs of Nasarawa State.

The Nalaraba foundation presented cash awards to selected indigents students symbolically on Saturday in Lafia.

Speaking at the ceremony, the lawmaker explained that the initiative was aimed at supporting the educational advancements of the beneficiaries.

According to him, each of the 1,000 tertiary students received the sum of N100, 000 each to assist them navigate through their difficult moments in the course of their studies.

He said, “We took statistics, we equally did our own research, we found out that at least tuition in the State University and some other higher institutions as at the time we made this decision was not above N100,000. We now decided that if we truly want to make a positive impact, if we truly want to support the children of the underprivileged, let us take care of their tuition fees with N100,000, to pay for at least an academic session in the university.”
