The Lifeshare Foundation has empowered vulnerable and underprivileged children in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and Nasarawa State through a talent-hunt and humanitarian support initiative that discovers and nurtures talent among children in orphanages.
Beyond its regular outreach of providing essential supplies to orphanages, the foundation introduced a Talent Hunt Initiative to identify and develop children’s abilities in areas such as dancing, singing, comedy and martial arts.
Seasoned professionals from the respective fields served as judges and mentors during the competition which attracted about 320 children, excluding their chaperones.
In addition to recognising and rewarding outstanding talents, Lifeshare Foundation ensured that each participating orphanage received essential supplies, including bags of rice, cartons of noodles, cooking oil, toiletries and other food items.
Speaking at the event, the founders, Mr and Mrs Kayode Alonge, encouraged the children to believe in themselves and never allow anyone to make them feel less important.
“You matter, and no one should make you feel otherwise. Each of you has a bright future ahead, so believe in your abilities and continue to pursue your dreams,” they said.
To support the well-being of the children, the foundation also organised free medical check-ups, with healthcare professionals on hand to conduct tests and provide medical support where necessary. A playground was also provided to ensure the children enjoyed a wholesome and entertaining experience throughout the event.
Winners of the talent hunt received cash prizes of ₦300,000 for first place, ₦200,000 for second place and ₦100,000 for third place.
Some of the winners expressed joy over the recognition, noting that the experience and prize money had inspired them to keep developing their talents.
“This is the first time we have participated in a talent competition. We are very grateful to Lifeshare Foundation for giving us this opportunity and for supporting children in orphanages,” one of the winners said.
The founders also used the occasion to call on well-meaning Nigerians, corporate organisations and development partners to support the foundation’s initiatives.
“Our goal is to ensure that vulnerable children are given the same opportunities and exposure available to more privileged children. At Lifeshare Foundation, every act of care, no matter how small, truly counts,” they added.
