The Sarauniya Charity Foundation (SCF), has empowered secondary schools in Keffi, Nasarawa State at a health outreach programme.
The event, held on November 12, 2023, provided essential health education and resources to the young girls in the state.
The organisers said the programme educated the beneficiaries on menstrual hygiene, proper use of sanitary pads and the critical need to protect themselves from infections.
They selected four schools in Keffi – Pivotal Girls Secondary School, Government Secondary School Yalwa, ECWA Girls Secondary School, and Girls Science Secondary School, Keffi, for this initiative
It was attended by representatives of the state health ministry, school principals, local media and community leaders.
The presence of the Emir of Keffi’s representative added a touch of cultural significance to the occasion.
The health outreach began with sensitisation lectures by health ministry representatives, Fatima Dantsoho and Maryam Nasidi, who disseminated vital information and encouraged an open dialogue between health officials and the students.
A pivotal moment in the day was the distribution of sanitary kits spearheaded by SCF’s Vice-President, Haj. Jamilah Shuaibu.
A total of 100 kits were distributed, each containing essential items such as detergent, Dettol antiseptic, tissue rolls, and soap.
The girls expressed their gratitude, echoing appreciation for SCF president, Ambassador Rabiat Umar.
