A non-governmental organisation (NGO), Africa Youth Growth Foundation (AYGF), has expressed interest in partnering with the LEADERSHIP Media Group to enhance development activities within communities.

During a visit to the LEADERSHIP corporate headquarters in Abuja, AYGF’s executive director, Arome Salifu, highlighted the critical role of media in sustainable development.

He stressed that the partnership aims to amplify AYGF’s impact and share its successes with partners and stakeholders.

“We recognise the media’s critical role in sustainable development, and we seek to amplify our impact and share our successes with immediate partners and stakeholders,” Salifu stated.

He said the organisation, founded in 2003, focuses on young people, women, and children across eight strategic thematic areas: migration, environment and climate change, education, public health, nutrition and food security, livelihood, and governance.

He said the organisation has collaborated with numerous international, multilateral, and bilateral institutions and federal, state, and local governments across Nigeria.

Salifu highlighted a notable project focused on labour inspection and labour law enforcement in sectors and workplaces where migrant workers are present. In collaboration with the European Union (EU) and the International Organization for Migration (IOM), this pilot project assessed the protection of migrant workers’ rights in Kano, Lagos, and Abuja.

“The project resulted in a comprehensive report, which has been shared with relevant government agencies and stakeholders, setting the stage for reciprocal labour protections for Nigerian workers abroad,” he said.

He also mentioned that AYGF has implemented training for border officials on the rights of migrants crossing borders, addressing reported abuses and ensuring the protection of these rights. This project, supported by the EU and IOM, was conducted strategically, including Lagos State and Cross River State.

“Through strategic partnerships and media engagement, AYGF continues to advocate for policies and initiatives that foster sustainable development and amplify the impact of its work on the ground,” Salifu said.

A representative of the LEADERSHIP team, led by its managing editor, Raliat Ahmed-Yusuf, said, “We are here for you. You can contact us anytime to help tell your stories and support your initiatives through collaborations and partnerships.”
